Elsie Waldron Tonkin and Amos Tonkin
These are my Great Grandparents, Elsie and Amos Tonkin. Taken around the time of their marriage in 1902 and certainly before 1918 when Elsie died. Amos Tonkin was originally from Mineral Point, WI. Elsie May Waldron was from Big Rapids, MI.

My name is Ingrid Waldron, my Father Ronald Waldron was an Artist of Steam Trains & Sailing ships, unfortunately he died in 1971. His Father (my Grandfather) was Albert Joseph Thomas Waldron, he was in the 1st world war on the Somme & Passchendale (not good). I would like to be able to find in Uncle Arthur (presumably now dead). He was my Grandfather's Brother. He was married to Beatrice and had a daughter called Susan. They used to live in Nursery Road in Birmingham. I have 1 cousin (Conrad). Is ther anyone who can throw some light on what happened to Uncle Arthur after Beatrice died in the early 1960s.

Charles Maguire Waldron was a charter member of the Postal Letter Carriers Association. In the 1920's he worked in Manhattan and represented the district at the opening of Grant's Tomb on the upper west side of the city. He and his wife "Lizzie" were married in 1889 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan and shared their lives with four children. Charles A. was born in 1890, "Molly" in 1892, Joseph in 1893 and John Anthony in 1896.
Most of the family lived and worked in the city or in nearby, New Jersey.
Grandma was "famous" for her prayerful vigils, homemaking and philosophy, summed up in her saying: "Take a little longer, do a little less and you'll last a little longer to do a little more". Her patience was legendary and their family is too!

WINNIFRED L. WALDRON
The funeral for Winnifred L. Waldron of Cornelius will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church in Forest Grove. She died in a Hillsboro hospital Tuesday of causes related to age. She was 84.
Mrs. Waldron, whose maiden name Zweifel, was born March 24, 1906, in Summerfield, and reared in Elgin. She attended Eastern Oregon College of Education in La Grande for two years.
Following her marriage in 1923, she moved to Kansas City, Ore., where she and her husband, Earl, lived until 1925. They moved to Idaho and in 1928 returned to Kansas City, where they farmed. They moved to Forest Grove in 1972 and to Cornelius in 1977.
Her husband died in 1982. Surviving are sons, Urban and Robert, both of Forest Grove; daughters, Echo Waldron of Cornelius and Earlawin Horner of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Elks Eye Bank or First Christian Church in Forest Grove.
Vault entombment will be in Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove.
