Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Bullock b. 1868 and Albert C. Thacker b. 1863 (first cousins): Their mothers were sisters (Descendants of James Whitis Bulloch (b. abt.1790 d. 9-29-1859) and Nancy Horton b. abt.1800 d. 9-7-1854 (m. in 1817 in NC.)
Albert and Betty had a rugged and very short life. I am still searching for more info on how and when they died, but they left behind four small children who were raised by family members. I am told two were raised on a farm belonging to Solomon Walker Bullock (who was Betty's older brother b. 1866)
Sarah E. "Betty" Bullock b. 1868 (d. abt. 1900) married Albert C. Thacker b. 1863 (d. abt. 1905). They were Married: 23 JAN 1887 in Goesbeck, Limestone Co., Texas. We were told Betty died shortly after Hattie Mae was born. Grandma said it was due to complications at child birthing. Hattie was the youngest of four and she was born about 1898.
Sarah ("Betty") had her first child, James about 1890 then Sara "Sally" in 1892 and grandma Beatrice "Blanche" on Feb. 16, 1894. Hattie Mae was born abt. 1898 and LDS shows: Sarah Elizabeth Thacker died abt. 1900 and Albert died in abt. 1905.
The young girls married young and grandma had her babies at home like most young women did back then. She married Marvin Lee Harper and they had only 2 children that lived to be adults. The first child died and one lived 2 yrs with complications from childbirth (crushed skull). Grandma loved him so much and this broke her heart. Then she had her little girl Evelyn about 1916 and then Chess'L was born in 1921 in Burkburnett, TX and he died in 1997. He had 6 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grandma married a second time (about 1942) to Rienhold Schmidt (several yrs younger then herself). He loved kids and he and his brother had dairy cows.
Grandma & Uncle Ronnie bought a home in Lodi, California. He wanted to be called "Uncle Ronnie" from the start, so there would be no confusion as to who our granddad was. Grandpa Harper remarried also and he lived in Portland, OR. most of his days.
Grandma gave everyone a nick-name and mine was "Wodi". Chess'L was called "Cherokee" all his life. She loved her flowers and her babies and grandbabies. Grandma Blanche loved to bake and her door was always open if you were in need. I remember many a time when she fed young men, women and children at her home. She read her bible every day and took us to church with her on Sunday (if we were viviting that day).
Grandma Beatrice Blanche Thacker has always wanted to find her sisters and her brother, and we had no idea how to do that until after her death. She died (abt. 10 yrs after Uncle Ronnie)in 1982 in Douglas City, CA and was up in the mountains of Trinity County. She loved it up there and she was living near my little sister on a big farm at that time.
