My great-something Grandfather Strickler was a Mennonite minister who came to America from Switzerland. He and another family got a land grant to settle the Massanuten valley in Western Virginia. The town near was New Market. The original log cabin and land are still in existence and beautiful. There is a stele on the side of the road between Luray and New Market Virginia put up in the 1930s to commemorate those who had settled the land.
