Lula was married to Paul Jones Stitt when he died at the age of 57 in 1975. They had married on July 6, 1940 and were married for 35 years.. Paul was a member of the VFW, the Optimist Club, the Georgia Peace Officers Association, the American Legion, and was the owner of Insulators Inc.
In 1942, Lula was married and living with Paul in Baltimore, Maryland. Lula was working as a maid.
She was a teacher in Macon Georgia and Warner Robins George for over 30 years. Although she and Paul had no children of their own, she influenced the lives of many children due her presence in their lives. See Lula W Stitt: Obituary
