The Slynger family first appear in Yorkshire, England about 1460 but. DNA shows a Danish ancestry, and being the root of the names Tillotson, Tillotson, Tillitson. in 1067.
Brothers; Hercules Slynger d1559, John Slynger Abt.1485-Bef. 1543,Christopher Slynger Abt. 1487-Aft.1543.
This Spelling became Slinger.
As this family moved south misspellings occured due to the Yorkshire accent and spelling as the name was sounded to southern ears. most Slingos could not read or write.
So we have Slingoe, and Slingo.
This has been proven by DNA.
There are only three familys of Slingo's who have not been connected with each other.
