I am the son of Siletsky Motel( Mordechai) that was born in Kobryn Belarus.
Lately I am trying to find the source of the name Siletsky, by reading the history of the Jews in the baltic countries. I found out that Jews arrived to Belarus and Lituainia from Germany, Babilonia(Iraq) Plestine, Italy and from the Otoman Empire. Sir names usually were based on the origin of the family with changes that were made during the years. In Germany there is a place / district called Silesia /Shlezia, which reminds some how the name"Siletsky" - probably based on Silesia and changed to sound "Polish".
A other posibility for the origin is the small town in norhtern Italy called "Saluzzo" reminds the word "Salutto" which is "Shalom" in Hibrew. Saluzzo was once populated with Jews. In this small town there is one of the nicest old synagogues in Europe. There are some versions to Siletsky such as: Seletsky, Saletsky. They all are reminding those places names, with modifications.
