Ervin James Shanley Obituary
NEWPORT - Ervin James Shan-ley, 76, of Newport, died Tuesday.
Born in Great Falls, Mont., he was a surveyor for Bonneville Power Administration for 20 years, retiring in 1969.
Surviving are his wife, Grace; sons, James E., Tempe, Ariz., Michael, Flint, Mich., and Jack, East Grand Forks, Minn.; daughter, Kate Vangen, Ann Arbor, Mich.; and sister, Esther Lake, Blackfoot, Idaho.
At the family's request, there were no services. Bateman mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

While living in Glasgow, MT in the 1930's he worked as a Instrumental Music Instructor.
On March 7, 1946 he married Winona Katherine Simons (1911–1996) in Glasgow, Valley, Montana, USA. They had two sons James and Jack and a daughter Katherine together and resided in Poplar, MT. Winona had a daughter Lois Fister, Ervin's now step daughter. They later divorced on Janaruy 25, 1952 in Wolf Point, MT.
Ervin later re married on December 24, 1955 to Grace Elizabeth Sensney (1911–1986) in Woodburn, Marion, Oregon, USA. They did not have any children together and were married until his passing in 1984.
In the 1950's Ervin was a Survey Aide for the Bureau of Reclamation in Poplar, MT. He worked as a surveyor for Bonneville Power Administration for 20 years and retired in 1969.
