Carol L. Wentz February 20, 1940 — March 13, 2025 Lancaster Carol Lee Shaben Wentz, age 85, went home to be with her son, Steven, her mother, and all her siblings and loved ones on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Lancaster Health Services. She was born on the family farm on February 20, 1940, in rural Cassville, the daughter of Orvie and Mary (Gibson) Shaben. Carol graduated from Cassville High School in May 1958. She married Edward Wentz on December 29, 1958. They had seven children including a set of twins at the end of the sibling line. Carol was a CNA most of her adult life, working 33 years at the Lancaster Nursing Home and caring for many in their home though Homeward Bound and in private home care. Carol became a district manager with Stanley Home Products and was a dealer for decades. She was also a member of many organizations including Beetown Women’s American Legion, Tops, Birthday and Walking clubs. Carol also volunteered for decades at the Grant County Thrift Shop. Survivors include her children: Nancy (Rusty) Fuls, Florida, Rodney (Susan Slaughter) Wentz, Lancaster, Ken (Renae) Wentz, Platteville, Brenda (Dean) Wentz-Bell, Tomah, Alvin (Kari) Wentz, Waukon, IA, and Albert (Stacy) Wentz, Davenport, IA; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her son, Steven, her parents, Mary and Orvie Shaben, and all of her siblings: Ruth, Neal, Harry, Renetta, a daughter-in-law, Virginia, a grandson, Nathan, and two great-granddaughters, Alysha and Alexis. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison St., Lancaster. Family burial will be in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown, at a later date. Family will greet friends on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Harry R. Shaben June 28, 1944 — April 19, 2024 Cassville CASSVILLE - Harry R. Shaben, age 79, of Cassville, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. He was born on June 28, 1944, the son of Orvie and Mary (Gibson) Shaben. Harry was a man of many trades, having served in the United States Army for 3 years and worked in farming, mechanics, and cutting firewood to sell. He enjoyed spending time at the McCartney Corners bar, where he would socialize and share stories with those around him. Harry also cherished the time spent with his 3 dogs. He is survived by his children: Deb (Bill) Krantz; Dana (Tracy Schrader) Shaben; Harry W (Mo) Shaben; Heather (Jim Thompson) Shaben; Joe Shaben; Eric (Sonja) Shaben; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Wentz. He is also remembered by his close friend, Betty. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Orvie and Mary Shaben, and his second wife, Margot Shaben. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCartney Corners, 8193 Hwy 133, Cassville, Wisconsin, to honor Harry R. Shaben. Neal Orvie Shaben
Neal O. Shaben July 28, 1941 ~ February 23, 2019 (age 77) Neal O. Shaben, 77, of Van Wert, Ohio died at 9:50 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Kindred Hospital at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born July 28, 1941 in Cassville, Wisconsin to the late Orvie and Mary (Gibson) Shaben. He is survived, in Van Wert, by his wife of 55 years, Lila (Robinson) Eck Shaben. Neal was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1959-1963 in the Strategic Air Command (S.A.C.) with the 108th Bomber Wing. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Neal began a career of over 40 years with I.B.M. where he served in many different capacities such as office product engineering, research and development, consulting and with world trade-serving three different countries. In addition to his wife, Lila, Neal is survived by his children, Daniel Eck of Ohio City, Ohio, Doug (Marie Belin) Eck of Platteville, Wisconsin, Linda (Paul) Hrupka of Union Grove, Wisconsin, and Laurie (Fernando) Zapata of Evansville, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Harry Shaben of Cassville, Wisconsin; and sisters, Carol Wentz of Lancaster, Wisconsin and Ruth Pouge of Wisconsin. Also, preceding Neal in death are his sister, Renetta Sheperd and her husband, Morris; and a sister in law, Margot Shaben. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. He loved to work on cars and electronics- there was nothing he could not fix. But most importantly, Neal loved his children as his own and he was truly a SUPER DAD to them all. A celebration of Neal’s life will be held in Wisconsin at a later date. Preferred memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Ruth Ann Pogue, 85 of (pauls address)., died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at home surrunded by family. She was born 12 May 1938, in Waterloo Township, Wisconsin the daughter of Orvie and Mary Kathryn (Gibson) Shaben. Ruth was the oldest of 5 Siblings. She attended Burton Township School, then graduated from Cassville High School. Upon graduating she went to nurses Training at Madison General Hospital Sept. 1956- Jan 1957. There she met soon to be sister in law -Irene Pogue (Weisensel) who introduced her to her Future Husband Roy Roger Pogue, they were married Dec 8th, 1957 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Wi. She worked at Nagle Hart Catipillar Dealer in Advertising dept from 1957 to Oct 1958. Then to a stay at home mom of 8 children. Later she and husband Roy bought a dairy farm and moved family to Clearlake, WI where she excelled at being a true helpmate and support to husband Roy. She later returned to work at Rhodes frozen dough from 1981-Jun 28,1995. She was able to enjoy her many hobbies Canning, Gardening, participating in raising of grandchildren in her golden years as she was able to move around the country living with her children and their families and the joys of seeing them grow. Ruth has loved being part of many churches thru her moves Adventist Faith, East Linclon Church, and had made lifelong friends with many in her community. She was pre-deceased by Husband Roy in 2010, and two children Dale 1984 & Faye 1969 and 3 grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her 6 children Barbara & (Richard) Tallent Amery, Wi, Bonnie Guiney Keokuk, IA, Daniel & (Rose Lambert) Pogue, Emmett, ID, Juanita Duman Oakdale, TN, John & (Christina Smith) Pogue, Deerbrook, WI, Paul & (Val O'Flanagan) Pogue, Clearlake, Wi. Carol Lee (Shaben) Wentz
Carol L. Wentz February 20, 1940 — March 13, 2025 Lancaster Carol Lee Shaben Wentz, age 85, went home to be with her son, Steven, her mother, and all her siblings and loved ones on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Lancaster Health Services. She was born on the family farm on February 20, 1940, in rural Cassville, the daughter of Orvie and Mary (Gibson) Shaben. Carol graduated from Cassville High School in May 1958. She married Edward Wentz on December 29, 1958. They had seven children including a set of twins at the end of the sibling line. Carol was a CNA most of her adult life, working 33 years at the Lancaster Nursing Home and caring for many in their home though Homeward Bound and in private home care. Carol became a district manager with Stanley Home Products and was a dealer for decades. She was also a member of many organizations including Beetown Women’s American Legion, Tops, Birthday and Walking clubs. Carol also volunteered for decades at the Grant County Thrift Shop. Survivors include her children: Nancy (Rusty) Fuls, Florida, Rodney (Susan Slaughter) Wentz, Lancaster, Ken (Renae) Wentz, Platteville, Brenda (Dean) Wentz-Bell, Tomah, Alvin (Kari) Wentz, Waukon, IA, and Albert (Stacy) Wentz, Davenport, IA; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her son, Steven, her parents, Mary and Orvie Shaben, and all of her siblings: Ruth, Neal, Harry, Renetta, a daughter-in-law, Virginia, a grandson, Nathan, and two great-granddaughters, Alysha and Alexis. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison St., Lancaster. Family burial will be in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown, at a later date. Family will greet friends on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Ruth Ann (Shaben) Pogue
Ruth Ann Pogue, 85 of (pauls address)., died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at home surrunded by family. She was born 12 May 1938, in Waterloo Township, Wisconsin the daughter of Orvie and Mary Kathryn (Gibson) Shaben. Ruth was the oldest of 5 Siblings. She attended Burton Township School, then graduated from Cassville High School. Upon graduating she went to nurses Training at Madison General Hospital Sept. 1956- Jan 1957. There she met soon to be sister in law -Irene Pogue (Weisensel) who introduced her to her Future Husband Roy Roger Pogue, they were married Dec 8th, 1957 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Wi. She worked at Nagle Hart Catipillar Dealer in Advertising dept from 1957 to Oct 1958. Then to a stay at home mom of 8 children. Later she and husband Roy bought a dairy farm and moved family to Clearlake, WI where she excelled at being a true helpmate and support to husband Roy. She later returned to work at Rhodes frozen dough from 1981-Jun 28,1995. She was able to enjoy her many hobbies Canning, Gardening, participating in raising of grandchildren in her golden years as she was able to move around the country living with her children and their families and the joys of seeing them grow. Ruth has loved being part of many churches thru her moves Adventist Faith, East Linclon Church, and had made lifelong friends with many in her community. She was pre-deceased by Husband Roy in 2010, and two children Dale 1984 & Faye 1969 and 3 grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her 6 children Barbara & (Richard) Tallent Amery, Wi, Bonnie Guiney Keokuk, IA, Daniel & (Rose Lambert) Pogue, Emmett, ID, Juanita Duman Oakdale, TN, John & (Christina Smith) Pogue, Deerbrook, WI, Paul & (Val O'Flanagan) Pogue, Clearlake, Wi. As well as 32 living grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. As well as Siblings Carol Wentz, and Harry Shaben and sister-in-law Irene Weisensel, as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
