MY GREAT AUNTIE, WHO IS MY MOM'S AUNTIE, LOUISA DIXON PASSED AWAY AND I INHERITED HER HAT COLLECTION. I DO GENEALOGY WORK AND I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT TO HAVE HISTORY STRAIGHT.
IN THE COLLECTION WAS A HAT, FROM A SAILOR. SHE HAD MET HIM AT A DANCE. SHE HAD SNUCK OUT AT NIGHT, AFTER HER HUBBY WAS ASLEEP AND GO TO A DANCE, AS HER HUBBY DIDN'T LIKE THE DANCES. SHE MET AN H.L. SAPP AT THE DANCE. AT THE END OF THE DANCE, SHE STOLE THE SAILOR'S HAT. IT WAS IN THE COLLECTION OF HER HATS.
I AM TRYING TO LOCATE THE FAMILY OF THIS SAILOR AND I WANT TO RETURN THE HAT BEFORE NEXT REMEMBERANCE DAY. IF IT WAS MY FATHER, UNCLE OR GRANDFATHER'S HAT, I WOULD LOVE TO GET IT BACK. THE NAME H.L. SAPP IS PRINTED IN SIDE THE BRIM. I BELIEVE IT IS AN AMERICAN SAILOR HAT BUT AM NOT SURE.
THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE OUT IS HE MUST HAVE BEEN IN PRINCE RUPERT OR THE QUEEN CHARLOTTE ISLANDS BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE NONNIE LOUISA LIVED.
IF YOU CAN HELP ME FIND HIS FAMILY, WHETHER IT BE HIS CHILDREN, BROTHER AND SISTERS, ETC, YOU WOULD MAKE MY DAY, SO I CAN RETURN IT TO THE FAMILY OF THIS MAN
THANK YOU
MARY MONTGOMERY
