Pedro Sánchez Fernández es un trabajador de banca manchego reconvertido en economista que llegó a trabajar para el Ministerio de Cultura del gobierno socialista de Felipe González, cartera que ostentó en esa época la ministra valenciana ya fallecida Carmen Alborch. En el Ministerio de Cultura, según ha podido saber elcierredigital.com, "el padre de Pedro Sánchez fue encargado de la dirección económica".
Mientras estaba en este cargo, se reformó el Teatro Real de Madrid. Y para esa reforma, tal y como ha tenido constancia este periódico, había un presupuesto inicial de 11 millones de euros que finalmente ascendió a 120 millones de euros. Es decir, diez veces más de lo inicialmente pactado.

Azagra ha sido, además, recientemente denunciado por el sindicato Manos Limpias, como ya hemos publicado en elcierredigital.com, por presunto "delitos continuado contra la Hacienda Pública y contra la Seguridad Social por malversación y fraudes y exacciones ilegales”, relativos a su cargo en la Diputación de Badajoz.
