GEORGE'S BAY, August 9.
The wife of Mr. Thomas Ransom, of Killymoon,
was killed while out driving with her husband
on the high road between here and Scamander
yesterday. Mr. Ransom had got out of the trap
to alter some of the harness, when the horse
bolted. He shouted to Mrs. Ransom to keep the
horse in the middle of the road, but when he
came up to the vehicle about two miles further
on, he found his wife lying by the road side quite
dead.
The unfortunate accident plunges a large circle
of relations into mourning, five daughters and
three sons are left to deplore their bitter ber-
pavement :- Mrs. J. J. Verbrook, Scottsdale,
Mrs. E. Gaunt, Launceston, Mrs. W. H. Valentine,
Invermay, Misses Alice and Evaline Ransom,
Mr. Fred Ranson, Millbrook, Mr. Ernest Ranson,
Killymoon, and Mr. Eugene Ransom, Melbourne.

Gertrude Parker Ransom
I have two old studio photographs of Gertrude RANSOM which were both taken at the Foss Garden Studio in Malden, MA. Both appear to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Gertrude appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time they were taken. I believe that these are photographs of Gertrude PARKER RANSOM and have been able to gather the following information regarding Gertrude and her family:
Gertrude PARKER was b. 18 Feb 1869 in Malden, MA to parents George D. PARKER (1840-1924) and Ellen A. MANSFIELD (1845-1916). Gertrude was one of three children born to this couple including brothers William PARKER (b. 1870) and George PARKER (b. 1878). Gertrude married Charles Edwin RANSOM (1865-1947) on 29 Nov 1888 in Malden, MA and they had four children including Marion Gertrude; Dorothy E.; Arthur Stanley; and Geneveive or Genieve RANSOM, all born between 1889 and 1903. Gertrude died on 3 May 1936 in Melrose, MA.
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.

Gertrude was one of three children born to this couple including brothers William PARKER (b. 1870) and George PARKER (b. 1878). Gertrude married Charles Edwin RANSOM (1865-1947) on 29 Nov 1888 in Malden, MA and they had four children including Marion Gertrude; Dorothy E.; Arthur Stanley; and Geneveive or Genieve RANSOM, all born between 1889 and 1903. Gertrude died on 3 May 1936 in Melrose, MA.
