THE KELLY GANG.
Death of Aged Mother.
The death ocurred on Tuesday last at Greta West
( near Wangaratta ), of Mrs. Ellen King ( formerly Kelly ),
mother of Ned and Dan Kelly, the former bushrangers.
For 40 years the late Mrs. King, who was aged 95 years,
lived in the seclusion of the wild hills at Greta West.
She was clearly a victim of circumstances, and though
death ends a long life of suffering, her demise is deeply
regretted by a large number of friends, who knew her as
a kind-hearted woman and deeply sympathised with her
sad misfortune.
Born in Antrim, Ireland, the late Mrs. Kelly came to
Australia with her parents in 1841. She married the late
John Kelly at Ballarat in 1851, and nine years later they
settled in Greta. Her first husband died at Avenel, and
she subsequently married George King.
Mesdames W. Knight ( Waranga Basin ), A. Dawe ( Rush-
worth ), E. A. Griffiths ( Greta ), are her daughters, and Mr.
James Kelly, a familiar figure at the Wangaratta stock sales,
is her surviving son.
The exploits of the Kelly Gang captivated public interest
during the stirring period from 1878 to 1880.
Their recklessness and defiance of the law made thier
deeds notorious throughout Australia.
Bridget was born in the family home of her parents John and Anne at Ballinahown, County Wicklow on the 17th of July 1834, Bridget grew up on the shared farm of the three Quinn families.
Around 1857, Bridget married Thomas Phibbs in Blackditches Church and went to live in his family home at Lug na Gun.
Thomas and Bridget had one daughter and two sons. Mary, Patrick was born on the 13th of December 1862 and John who was born on the 22nd of May 1864. Mary was raised by the Phibbs family.
But on the 4th of October 1864, Thomas died of stomach disease. Thomas' brother Patrick took over the farm. Bridget and her two sons were no longer welcome there and Bridget returned home to Ballinahown to live with her brother Henry.
Bridget then married Thomas Mackey on the 4th March 1867 at Blackditches Church. Bridget moved to her new husband's home in Lacken and they had one daughter and two sons.
Their daughter Ann was born on the 15th December 1867. William was born on the 28th of December 1868.
Another son, was born on the 31st of December 1869. However, he only lived for four hours and was not named. Five days after the birth of her son, Bridget died on the 5th of January 1870, at the age of 35.
Margaret Sophia (Quinn) Warnecke of Preston Australia was born in 1835 at Saint John Street, in Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick Canada, and died at age 73 years old on November 20, 1909 at Mary Street, in Preston, City of Darebin County, Victoria Australia.
James Francis Quinn Mr of Jamestown, SA Australia was born in 1840, and died at age 89 years old in 1929.
Ora Mae (Curtis) Quinn was born on May 22, 1844 in Buda, Hays County, Texas United States to Mary Ann (Crowley) Curtis and William Morgan Curtis Jr. She married William Lowe Quinn on February 4, 1906, and they were married until Ora's death on December 5, 1966. She had children Willie Eugene Quinn(Gene), Claude Freeman Quinn, Gladys Lee (Quinn) Griffin, Mary Alice (Quinn) Duke, Edgar Raymond Quinn, Olga Mae (Quinn) Petty(Mae), and Thomas Aubrey Quinn. Ora Quinn was buried on December 7, 1966 at McDowell Cemetery in Belton, Bell County.

My mama was named after the sister of her Papa(father). They shared the name Mary Alice Quinn. Most of her family called her Mary Alice. Above it said she was the mother of 10 but it should be mother of 9!
Virginia Leonese (Quinn) Wise was born in December of 1895 to Luis Lemuel Quinn and Amanda Jane Quinn. Both of her parents were born in Mississippi. She had siblings Homer, Robert, Donnie, Dudley, Annie, Eula, Albert, Willie, and Augusta.

Funeral Mass on Thursday (March 20) at 11am in Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock and Burial afterwards in Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill, Co. Dublin. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to DSPCA (01) 4994700.

QUINN Sean, (Blackrock, Co. Dublin and Inverin, Co. Galway) March 30, 2020, in his 93rd year. Peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to Evelyn and dear father to Deirdre, Diarmuid, Donnacha, Orla and Ronan. Will be so sadly missed by his wife, daughters and sons, his daughter-in-law Cindy, sons-in-law Seamus and Peter, sister Kay, brother Tomás, brothers and sisters-in-law, his nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as by his extended family and friends.
May he rest in peace

As a child, I thought she was so beautiful. I loved her Irish lilt and I will always remember her talking about the strife in Ireland between the Catholics and the Protestants. I remember her saying it wasn’t about religion but about the difference between the rich and the poor. I have, myself, recounted her story. I have often wondered where she was and what she was doing. She made a strong impression on me. May the road rise to meet her,… May God hold her in the hollow of His hand.
Singer. An Irish vocalist, she will be remembered for her many appearances on American television during the 1950s and 1960s, notably as a regular performer associated with Arthur Godfrey. Raised in Phibsborough, Ireland, her father was a classically-trained violinist who supplemented his family's income while working as a bookie, Carmel's mother died during her youth. She chose to pursue a career as a singer and following her acquiring experience with local bands, she made a name for herself when she performed the song "The Isle of Innisfree" with the House Orchestra at the Theatre Royal. In 1955, she relocated to the United States and won a contest to perform as a regular with the program "Arthur Godfrey and His Friends." During this period, she recorded the album with the Columbia label titled "Arthur Godfrey Presents Carmel Quinn" which included the songs "The Whistling Gypsy" and "Galway Bay." This led to scores of appearances on the TV shows "The Ed Sullivan Show," "The Tonight Show with Jack Paar" and later with Johnny Carson and "The Mike Douglas Show." Additionally, she became associated as a panelist on the gameshows "I've Got a Secret," "Password" and "The Match Game." Quinn will also be remembered for her annual St. Patrick's Day sellout concerts at Carnegie Hall. She performed in the off-Broadway touring productions "Finian's Rainbow" and "The Sound of Music." Other albums include "Carmel Quinn's TV Party" (1956), "I Enjoy Being a Girl" (1962) and "It's the Irish In Me" (1965 ). She died from pneumonia.
