Here we are in front of Space Mountain the year it opened in 1976. The lineups were about an hour long, but worth every minute, as the ride completely blew my head off. It was short, but packed with the most incredible special effects I'd ever seen. And then 'Star Wars' opened later that summer; all in all a good time to be a nerdy sci-fi fan. Here we are on our first trip to the Canadian National Exhibition, an annual fair held in Toronto since 1879, and a rite of summer for generations of kids. This was in the era before parents would feed their children quantities of sugar which were 3 times as big as the child's head. I believe this particular Candy Floss maker also produced something called 'Agent Orange,' but that could be just a rumour.
