Minch Family History & Genealogy

Todd Bartley Minch was born to John Minch (1927 - 2021) and Charlotte Francis Lucas (1925 - 1999). He had seven siblings: five girls and two boys. I met Todd January 21,1996 when he accompanied one of his college mates, & longtime friend, Tony Sexton of Lithonia, GA. Tony was a guest at the Hilton Head hotel SC & requested Todd come with him to "cheer him up." (I assume after the loss of his job at MCI) Tony was looking for a venue for a conference for their family business - Sexton Tire of Loganville, GA. I was a contestant of Millie Lewis Talent convention held annually at the Hilton Head Hotel. We actually met in an elevator & later I wrote a song entitled "Is it Love or Infatuation?"! Using words from the elevator conversation. ©Rs-k/BMI Affiliate. We got to know each other at the convention and as it turned out we lived five miles from each other in Gwinnett County, GA. We began seeing each other after my return from Charleston, SC. At times our relationship was long distance, he worked in the Palm Beach area of FL. We were truly in love & our relationship lasted a little over 3 years prior to his death. After accepting a job as a journalist for a newspaper (name unknown) in Connecticut I accepted his proposal for marriage. My daughter and I were to move to Connecticut with him as soon as he found a place. We were to marry in the spring of 2000. Todd was killed in an automobile accident. The information Tony was able to give, (I assume from a member of Todd's family I did not ask due to shock as I had been widowed for 9 years) Todd was returning from an interview & not familiar with the area, there was Hwy construction - a one vehicle accident (to the best of our knowledge) Todd lost control of the vehicle & death was instantaneous - Less than 3 weeks after moving to Connecticut, his last conversation was with my daughter, to let me know he would contact me as soon as possible to discuss living arrangements prior to our marriage. Todd was 45 at the time of his death he would have been 46 October 21st 1999. I have never been able to contact his family. Todd was divorced approximately 1994 as best I recall, while he was working for MCI Telecommunications NYC. I will never forget Todd. We had plans for a future he was very excited to get out of the Telecommunications industry, as he had a greater love of writing and journalism was his ambition and dream. He was very excited about his new job and our life together. A move from the Atlanta MSA to Connecticut with my middle school-aged daughter would have been a big leap but we loved each other enough, & we knew we would make it. I know Todd is resting in peace. He was a very special son to his mother who lived in Nashville and he visited her as much as possible.
