THE ROSE AND THE TREE
We have traveled
Long together,
Margaret and me,
She loved a rose
And I loved a tree.
She has passed up
Through the portals
Into Eternity,
Where she is ever
Waiting and watching for me.
We may soon again
Be together,
Her beneath the rose
And I beneath the tree,
And our spirits will
Join each other
Through all Eternity.
She has taken the rose
And gone to heaven
Where she is waiting for me
To come up through the portals
And bring the little tree.
We will plant them together
In the garden, the rose and the tree,
Where they will twine
Their branches round each other
All through Eternity.
They will grow very tall in heaven
The rose and the tree.
The angels will light in the branches
And pluck roses
For her and me.
Now I have told
You my story
Of the rose and the tree
And we will give
God all the glory
Through all Eternity.
