Betty Maddux in a Goat Cart
Betty Louise Maddux had her pic taken in a 'traveling goat cart'. She was under two years old in the picture, taken in 1926. She and her family lived in Kansas City MO at the time so I suspect that is where the picture was taken. When I asked my grandson if he wanted to see a picture of Betty (his great grandmother) in a goat cart, he was surprised when he saw the picture because he thought I said 'go cart'. He didn't expect a GOAT.

Kansas City Bus Drivers, ca 1929
Vince Maddux, third from right, drove a bus for Kansas City. He was shot in a robbery of the bus terminal, ending his career as a driver. While he survived the attack, he was left with vision impairment. The uniforms of that era are quite impressive.

He suffered from PSTS after the war and lived like a hermit, residing in my grandparents basement for many years. He was affected by mustard gas, a biproduct of WWI. He was such a quiet man, remained unmarried and died in Monterey Park, CA. War is a terrible thing.
