Jean S. (Longhi) Huber passed away at her home on Saturday, September 19, 2020. She was born in Stambaugh City, MI on Oct. 16, 1948 to the late Robert and Mildred Ann (Laycock) Longhi. Jean was a “Yooper Girl” thru and thru. She graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1966. Jean went to Milwaukee to secretarial and keypunch school and then went to Denver. She worked at JC Penney for a couple of years and then worked for Martin Marietta in the space division. Jean loved dogs and was “dog mom” to seven of her own. She also loved the outdoors and being by the water.
She met her husband Ted Huber in Colorado. They were married in 1990 and moved to the Green Bay area in 1991. They were married 30 years. Jean retired from Oneida Casino after 29 years in the shuttle department.
Survivors include her husband Ted Huber; step daughter Jennifer Huber; granddaughter Rockie Huber; brothers John (Bonnie) Longhi; Roger Laycock (Pat Nicol); nephews Rob (Sadie) Longhi and Matt (Yoejin) Laycock; niece Nickie Longhi; step sisters Kathy Sundquist and Diane Hollis.
Family and friends may call at the Pfotenhauer Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Howard-Suamico location, 1145 Cardinal Lane, Green Bay, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 3 until 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service for the immediate family will be held at 5:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls, MI.

She was a beautiful woman who was like a mother to me and she is missed terribly. She was the only one in the family that accepted me for me and took the time to listen. Her time here was short and I only had 12 years with her, but those memories are remembered everyday; especially when I look into the eyes of my children I know she would have accepted them and the woman I have now become; whereas my family as alienated me. She kept the family together and was a matriarch that brought everyone together by trying to keep the peace.
I often would go with her to the 5 and 10 and pick out a toy, or spend the night or go to the hairdresser with her who never had the heart to tell him , he was not the best at it "because he needs something to do his wife has passed".
She looked like Rose on the Golden Girls with her high cheek bones and her black hair. If she let it go white she we resemble her to a "T".
Many times she would pick me up from school and many would think she was my mother and we would then look at each other, laugh and say instantaneously "grand----mother" and laugh some more.
She is the reason I have a career in Hospice because on that day , when she went unresponsive, I was helpless and pushed to the side and was unable to talk about her death. So I became determined to be there for others in that situation and be a support system to those who lose their love ones. Many of times I have been with the patients in their final moments and help the families pick up the pieces while I am picking up some of my own .
