Patrick Leno was born to Angelo Leno (1910-1994) and Catherine (Muir) Leno (1911-1993). His father was born in Manhattan, New York and his mother was born in Greenock, Scotland. He was the older brother (by ten years) of Jay Leno. Patrick was a Vietnam War veteran and an attorney.
Jay Leno was quoted in 2009 saying:
“My brother went to Yale and was one of the top 10 students in the country,” Mr. Leno said. “I think my mother was always embarrassed that her first son didn’t do better than the second son. And whenever I’d give my mother an expensive gift, she’d say, ‘Don’t tell your brother.’ And she’d hide it.” Mr. Leno said that while he loved his brother, “there was an awkwardness” that remained until Patrick’s death in 2002. “We couldn’t have been more different,” Mr. Leno said. “I think my mother was always surprised that it turned out the way it did.”

Catherine Muir was born to James Muir (c. 1874-1930) in Greenock Scotland and when she was 15 years old immigrated into the United States onboard the ship Cameronia which departed from Glasgow Scotland and arrived in New York on October 31st 1926. In 1935 she married Angelo J. Leno (1910-1944) and they had two children Patrick Douglas Muir Leno and Jay Leno.
In the 1930s, Catherine was 18 living with her father James (age 56) and the McKim family in the Bronx at 2306 Glebe Avenue. It shows that she worked in a factory. Ten years later, according to the 1940s census Catherine was 28 years old, living with her husband Angelo (age 29) at 2885 Phillip Avenue in the Bronx New York.
James Douglas Muir Leno was born on April 28, 1950 in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York United States to Catherine Mary Leno and Angelo James Leno, and has siblings Patrick Douglas Muir Leno and Jay Leno. James Leno married Mavis Elizabeth Leno on November 30, 1980 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. Jay Leno is best known as being a standup comedian and the host of The Tonight Show after Johnny Carson retired. He was the host of the show from 1992 until 2009 (on NBC) and then he created a primetime talk show (The Jay Leno Show) which also aired on NBC from Sept 2009 until Jan 2010.
