This the only precious daughter of Lorene Edgar Ledford (Ed) and Lucy Emma Cecilia(Kincaid) Ledford -- Lorene Edna Ledford -- when she was about 5 months old. Lorene was born August 11, 1906 and was raised as very small child by her parents and then later with her wonderful cousins under the loving parental leadership of Dallas and Mattie Ledford, and their 10 children.

Floyd Ledford of Canton, Stark County, Ohio was born on November 18, 1910, and died at age 67 years old in August 1978.
Lu's mother was Domitilla Aguilar Kincaid and she was the next-to-youngest of 5 children by her and Elam Orson (E.O.) Kincaid, some 30 years her senior. While he was a Prison Guard at San Quentin, Lucy was born there at the Village for employee families. Domitilla was not with E.O. when she died - he was in Lathrop, CA (a retired soldier) on a farm he owned and ran and she was in Los Angeles with the 6 kids. She died suddenly while Lu was still a toddler, succumbing to galloping tuberculosis. E.O. could not get to the kids for some reason, so their maternal grandparents who are honored Spanish pioneers who helped settle the State of California in Descanso (San Diego area) - also known as Californios - came by wagon taking several days and picked up the kids and brought them to their ranch to raise them. The youngest, an infant, was adopted out almost immediately. E.O. had lived with them in Descanso, CA previously and was the Deputy Sherrif. He is buried in Bakersfield ,CA. Domitilla, Lu's mother, is buried in the family cemetery called "Eliis Family Ranch" in Descanso - nationally registered as a historic place - along with Lu's Mother - Domitilla, her brother Eddie Kincaid, and grandparents, Gavino and Antonia Aguilar and several other relatives including Uncle Ellis and Aunt Ysdiora Aguilar Ellis, who named "Descanso"!
Lu married Loren Edgar Ledford in Los Angeles, CA at a young age. After she had two children (Ray and Lorene) their marriage would not last. It was a very difficult and drawn out process immediately following their divorce, and Lu's brother-in-law Dallas Ledford helped and folded her two precious children in with his large herd on a ranch in rural Imperial County, CA. The children were very happy there, and their parents visited them and were photographed there together in regular large family gatherings.
Lu later moved to Bakersfield, CA and remarried a Mr. Young and helped raise his children. This marriage also would not last and Lu lived alone the last days of her life. She was visited by her daughter, Lorene, now and again, including the day she died of pneumonia.

My name is Gwen Hamby (maiden Ledford), granddaughter of Harley Ledford Sr. of Greer SC. I was curious whether I am related to anyone posting here. I don't know much about where my grandfather came from, but would like to find out. I do know that he came from North Carolina, and was married to Ethel Worley, also of NC. I believe that they were married sometime around 1940, perhaps earlier. It is unclear to me whether they moved to SC before or after they were married, and it is also unclear what area of NC they were orignally from. If anyone has any information, please post. Thanks.

My name is Jack English from Mitchell County, N.C. In 1738, three sons of William John Ledford left England aboard the "Walpole" captained by James Patton. Henry b.1720, William b.1722 and John b.1724 came to Virginia as indentured servants of Captain Patton, an Irishman. In 1750, Capt. Patton assigned some of his land to each of the Ledford men in 1750. I'm off Henry Ledford. In 1755 Indians attacked at Draper's Meadow and massacred most of the town's inhabitants. Both Henry Ledford and Capt. Patton were killed. Henry's young 12 year son Frederick came to North Carolina with his uncles. Frederick married Margaret McCurry and their daughter, Mary "Polly" Ledford married Simeon Burleson. They were my GGGG grandparents.

I have been trying to look for my heritage in all of theses Ledford's that I read about, there must be some kind of connection somewhere.
There children where Nettie Lousie Ledford, Ray Ledford, Hollis Ledford, Worley Ledford, Bertha Ledford, Irene Ledford, Dot Ledford, Lottie Ledford and Bunyan Ledford, there may be more children out there, but this is all I can remember, because I was given up for adoption when I was 8 years old and lost contact with all the family and names.
My Mothefr's name is Nettie Louise Ledford.
If any one can help me it would greatly be appreciated.
