Grace and Charlie LANKFORD
I have an old postcard photograph of Charlie & Grace LANKFORD which is dated 1910. Charlie and Grace appear to be in their 20's or 30's and are pictured in front of a house with an unidentified woman (appears to be older than the couple) and a dog. There is not a location identified on the photograph. I believe that this is a photograph of Charles William LANKFORD and his wife Grace BRADFORD. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this couple and their families:
Charles William LANKFORD was b. 19 May 1879 in Newark, MO to parents Levi Flemmie LANKFORD (1850-1923 born in Indiana) and Lucy Ann PATTERSON (1854-1894 born in Missouri) who were married 4 Dec 1873 in Phelps Co., MO. Charles had 5 siblings Mary Ellen LANKFORD (1876-1896); John Wilfred or Wilford LANKFORD (1881-1960); Emily Louisa or Linesa LANKFORD (b. 1883); Minnie Alice LANKFORD (1885-1963); and Elizabeth Pearl LANKFORD MCCOY (1891-1974). Charles married Grace BRADFORD (1878-1966) on 24 Apr 1901 in Macon, MO and Charles died 19 Dec 1923 in Quincy, IL and is buried in the East Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier, MO. Charles was a Carpenter by trade.
Grace BRADFORD was b. 16 May 1878 in Osage Co, KS to parents Lewis Trout BRADFORD (1852-1897 or 1847-1895) and Louisa Didamie or Didama CLEARY (1845 or 1849-1918) who were married in 1875 in Kansas. Grace had two siblings including Effie BRADFORD (1877-1954) and Arthur BRADFORD (1878-1947). It appears that her mother may have been married previously and she had a son James “Jim” HUCHISON or HUTCHISON (b. 1870). After Charles died Grace remarried to Lester HOLYCROSS (1871-1943) on 19 Dec 1933 in Bellefontaine, OH and may have been married an additional time to Charlie DECKER. Grace was a Practical Nurse and by 1940 she was living in Perry, OH. Grace died 30 Mar 1966 in Macon, MO and she is buried in the East Oakwood Cemetery in Bevier, MO.
