Paul married Pearl Winifred Nelson (1918 - 2004) on March 21, 1952, in Havre, Montana, and they had one four daughters, Rachel, Marlys, Lola, and Loretta Kropp and one son, Clifford. Paul was born in Malta, Montana and was a Montana State representative from District 5 in northern Montana. He was also one of the first directors of First Security Bank in Malta and also served on the North Phillips County Grazing Association from 1949 to 1964.
