Marian and her two brothers followed their older sister, Harriet (aka Jean Morgan and Jean Fenwick) into the motion picture industry. Marian using the names "Violet Adams" and then "Marilyn Morgan" secured a contract with Pathe Studio in 1929 and got a small part in "The Sophmore". After another small part in "Hell's Angels" 1930 directed by Howard Hughes (1905-1976) she was signed by Warner Brothers and renamed "Marian Marsh".
Her first main movie role was to play the part of "Trilby" opposite John Barrymore (1882-1942) in "Svengali" 1931. Another thirty six films followed, including productions made in the United Kingdom and Germany. Her last film was "House of Errors" with Harry Langdon (1884-1944), released in 1942. She appeared twice on television in 1957 and 1958.
Marian Marsh first married stockbroker, Albert Parker Scott (1902-1970) in 1938. They had two children, Catherine Mary Scott (1942-) and Albert Parker Scott Jr (1944-2014). She then married aviator, Clifford William Henderson (1895-1984) in 1960. She died on 9 November 2006 at her home in Palm Desert, Riverside, California aged 93.

Marian Marsh was one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars of 1931. Her first husband, Albert Parker Scott was previously married to actress, Colleen Moore (1899-1988). Her second husband Clifford Henderson along with his brother Randall helped found the city of Palm Desert in the 1940's. In the 1960s Marian Marsh founded "Desert Beautiful" a non-profit environmental and conservation program based in Palm Desert, California.
