He Protested The War And Fled To Canada To Keep From Being Drafted.Kenny Kays Came Home From Canada And Reported For Duty With The Army's 101st Airborne As A Conscientious Objector And Was Trained To Be A Medic. But Many For Whatever Reason Cannot Move Past Kays Wildside And Remember That He Was Awared The Medal Of Honor For His Unbelievable Acts Of Heroism On May7,1970 In Thien Prvince,Republic Of Vietnam.
Kays Actions On That Day Saved The Lives Of Numersous Soilders And Earned Him The Nations Highest Militay Honor. An Eccerpt Of The Citian Reads:
"PFC(Then Pvt) Distinguished Himself While Serving As A Medical Aidman With Company D Battalion Assaulted Company D's Night Defenise Position,Wounding And Killing Number Of Its Members.Disregarding The Intense Enmey Fire And Ground Assult,Pfc Kays Began Moving Towards The Primeter To Assist His Fallen Comrades. In Doing so He Became The Targert Of Concentrated Enmey Fire And Explosive Charges,One Of Which Severed The Lower Portion Of His Left Leg.
After Appling A Tourniquet To His Leg,Pfc Kays Moved To The Fire-Swept Permieter,Administered Medical Aid To One Of The Wounded And Helped Move Him To An Area Of Relative Saftey.Even In Pain Kays Returned In Search Of Other Wounded Men.He Treated Another Comrades And Using His Owen Body As A Shield Against Enemy Bullets And Fragments,Moved Him To Saftey.
Randy Mills Wrote The Book About His Life And In The Service.
The Book Is Called (Troubled Hero A Medal Of Honor,Vietnam And The War At Home)
Its A Very Good Book And Well Worth Its Money.
