RM Hudson story


Nellie Henson was born 06-March-1876 at Port Sullivan in Milam County, Texas.
Nellie Henson first married W.T. Williams. Mr. Williams died in 1909 Bell County Texas.
Nellie married R.M. Hudson on 10-October-1912. Their marriage is recorded in the Johnson County Tx courthouse in
Cleburne, Texas. We are in possession of their original marriage license.

The story goes that Nellie's childhood sweetheart was R.M. Hudson. Nellie was around 6 months pregnant when Mr Hudson disappeared. Nellie and her (Williams) children went out to the fields to work but Mr. Hudson did not go with them. When the family returned to the house that afternoon, Mr. Hudson was gone and "was never heard from again".
Nellie gave birth R.M. Hudson's sons, twin boys, on 14-July-1913. The boys were born in Godley, Johnson County Texas.
The twins were named Jim Garland and Joe Harland. The twins original birth certificate (a combined birth certificate) lists the boy's name as "two boys" Hudson. Their father is recorded as RM Hudson, a carpenter.
We find the boys listed using their Hudson name on the 1920 Census in Fort Worth Texas. All other records concerning the Hudson twins can be found using the Williams name. Reportedly, they used the Williams name when they started to school.

As an adult, Jim Williams went to the Cleburne TX courthouse to get a copy of his birth certificate. They could not find any record of his birth. It was suggested that the courthouse had burned as a possible reason for the missing record. Jim was issued a new birth certificate in the name of James Garland Williams.

The divorce record for Nellie and RM Hudson (06-October-1916) can be found at the Johnson County Courthouse in Cleburne, Texas. Nellie remarried once more to Mr. Marcum, moved to the Plano Texas area and then later back to the Johnson - Tarrant county area.

Some time just after WWII Joe Williams got into some sort of scuffle with member(s) of the Hudson family in Cleburne TX. We have been told that the twin boys had another half brother who was the son of RM Hudson.

Joe Williams died 14-August-1984 in Tarrant County, TX.
Jim Williams died just outside Covington in Hill County, Texas on 22-April-1993.
Jim and Joe are buried at Laura Land Cemetery, Ft Worth.
Nellie Henson died 16-March-1952, in Fort Worth and is buried at Cleburne, Texas.

Edward & Frances Hudson were married in the Garrison Chapel at Gibraltar on about 28 May 1811. Frances signed her name to the document as Robson, but witnesses' surnames were Robinson and Robertson, so whether any of them were related and spelled the name right is the big question.

They immigrated to Canada in 1817, aquiring land grant property in Lanark County in 1818. I'm still trying to confirm family info that they had established a Catholic School in Perth in the 1820's, one that was still operating over 100 years later.
