AFFIDAVIT OF JOHN H. DOYAL
STATE OF GEORGIA
WALKER COUNTY
John H. Doyal, of Saint Elmo, Hamilton County, Tennessee, being first duly sworn, upon his oath deposes and says:
I am 78 years of age and was born in Walker county, Georgia. I came to Walker county, Georgia, at the age of twelve years; I removed across the line into Hamilton county, Tennessee, in 1876.
I know the applicant, David H. Hixon, and live about three miles from him. I know his father George Hixon, and knew his grandfather. Dave Hixon, and all his brothers, they being the sons of Tim Hixon, the Cherokee arrow maker. I knew Tim Hixon by general reputation as an arrow maker of the Cherokee tribe, and of their blood.
I have know this Hixon family in Walker county for three of four generations, and know that it has always been generally understood by those best acquainted with them that they are of the Cherokee Indian blood.

AFFIDAVIT OF ASA M HIGGINS
STATE OF GEORGIA
WALKER COUNTY
Asa M. Higgins, of Rossville, Walker county, Georgia being first duly sworn, upon his oath deposes and says:
I am 80 years of age and was born in Jackson county, Georgia, June 18, 1833. I have lived In Walker county, Georgia, 75 Years. My Father was Caleb Higgins who lived near Lafayette, in Walker County and helped to remove the Indians in 1838.
I remember when the Indians were here, and knew some of them, Including Chief John Ross, who lived near in Rossville, and Second Chief Dick Wilkinson.
I have known the applicant, David H. Hixon, for many years. He is of good character and fully entitled to belief. He has been justice of the peace at Rossville, Walker County, Georgia, for about five years, and has lived in the county all his life, practically.
I have known applicant's father, George Hixon, who also resides in this county, and knew applicant's grandfather, David Hixon, who also lived in this county, away back years before the civil war.
I also knew by reputation applicant's great-grandfather, Tim Hixon, who lived on Lookout Mountain and in the valleys east of it. He was generally known as an arrow maker of the Cherokee Indian tribe, and to be of their blood, and recognized as belonging to their tribe.
This same Hixon family have been in Walker County, and I have been personally acquainted with then all along since I was young, many years before the civil war
