She acted in the York Little Theater occasionally and she won York's women's tennis title for a number of years in her younger days. She loved playing the piano, singing, and dancing. Her bubbly and warm personality touched many of her friends and family members deeply. In addtion, Miriam was active at Christ Lutheran Church for many decades where she participated in many activities such as tutoring disadvantage children and working for Meals on Wheels. She married William Edgar Hershey and had a son, William Edward Hershey.
