The name Hébert, as a result, implied both the appearance of sunlight reflecting off of armor, the valor of armed warfare, or the fame from the glories of victory. This trade name reflects Celtic and Gothic origins, which trace back to the Scythians and Parthians, who also wore chain mail.  No hard evidence of being part of the lost ten tribes of Israel, which migrated West. There is no known linguistic connection with the names Hébert and Heber from Genesis and the peoples the Habiru, or the Hebrews.

The earliest known and verifiable patriarch of the Hébert family is Joannes Hébert, who was born on the Isle de Paris in Paris, France in 1522. He was born into an age of kings, an age of turmoil, transformative ideas, and exploration. Life was short, brutish, and oftentimes a cruel experience.  Joannes Hébert’s son Louis Hebert was the first permanent settler of Canada. His great grandsons Antoine and Etienne, along with their wives, left Europe as the 30 Years War came to France. They sought refuge in the New World that held out prospects for tranquility, new opportunity, and better living.
