Allendale, were on Thursday interred in the
Creswick Cemetery. Messrs. John, Edward,
William, Michael, Patrick and Daniel, all sons of
the deceased, acted as coffin-bearers, and the
pall bearers were Messrs. Mullins, H. Collins,
P. Walsh, P. Skelton, J. Redmond, J. Cleary,
J. Downey, J. McCarthy, W. Myles, J. Rodey,
J. Meaney, D. McGrath, J. Dwyer, E. Beacham,
H. Cockburn, S. Bray, T. H. Tracy, J. Charleson,
J. Oxley, W. O'Brien jun, J. Moore.
James Hanley of Rhode Island was born on February 12, 1865, and died at age 98 years old in December 1963.

HANLEY. - The death of Mr. John Hanley took
place at his sister's residence Flinders-street,
Melbourne, on the 18th Nov. Deceased was the
eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Hanley,
of Allendale. He was a well-known coursing
enthusiast of the Ballarat district.
His remains were interred in the Brighton
Cemetery on the 19th Nov. - R.I.P.

BARMAN BURNT TO DEATH.
When his bedclothes caught alight at 7:15 p.m. on
April 16, Michael Hanley, 50, a barman, of Hight Street,
Coburg, received injuries from which he died, two days
later, in Melbourne Hospital.
Hanley who had been sick since December 23, was
lying in his bed on the verandah of his home, reading
a newspaper by candlelight. It is thought the candle
set the newspaper alight.
He suffered extreme burns before the flames were
extinguished by his wife.
