Olinda Farm - Wyalkatchem. The Dowerin Guardian and Amery Line Advocate. Sat. 21 April 1945. WYALKATCHEM NEWS. The district learned with deep regret of the death in Perth of Mr. Ernest E. Giese, one of the early settlers of Wyalkatchem. The funeral took place at Karrakatta on Thursday. To Mrs. Giese and her family, the deepest sympathy is extended to her sad sudden loss. The district has lost a worthy citizen and a great man, and to his widow, daughter Edith ( Mrs. R. W. Sullivan ), and son Rollie ( R. A. N. ), the sincerest sympathy of the whole district goes out. Their sorrow has not been lightened by the receipt of the news at the time of Mr. Giese's death that Phil, Mr. and Mrs. Giese's eldest son had died some eighteen months ago while a prisoner in the hands of the Japanese.
