MY MOM FRANCES GEE JOHNSON WHO WILL BE 83 THIS YEAR IN NOVEMBER ALWAYS HAS TOLD US OF THE LONG TRIP THEY USED TO TAKE TO WOODSTOCK , ILL. THE LAST TRIP SHE REMEMBERS WAS WHEN SHE WAS 10 YEARS OLD,SO HER BROTHER VERLE GEE WOULD HAVE BEEN 6 YEARS OLD OR SO AND HER SISTER BEVERLY GEE WOULD OF BEEN AROUND 3 YEARS OLD.THEY WITH THEIR PARENTS FORREST AND GLADYS GEE WOULD MAKE THAT TRIP FROM EAU CLAIRE , WI . AREA. SHE SAID THEY WOULD MAKE THIS TRIP DOWN THERE TO SEE HER DAD'S COUSINS AND THEIR FAMILIES[GEE'S AND EVERSON'S].SO FOR THESE CHILDREN [I CAN HARDLY SEE CHILDREN OF THIS DAY AND AGE EVEN IMAGINING WHAT THIS WAS LIKE] THIS WAS A VERY LONG RIDE ON THESE SOMETIMES DIRT ROADS AND OTHERWISED PAVED ONES AND A CAR THAT DID NOT GO LIKE THE ONES THESE DAYS.SO I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW THESE THREE CHILDREN FELT DURING THIS LONG TRIP. BUT, SINCE HER PARENTS PASSED OR BEFORE SHE HAS HAD NO CONTACT WITH THE ONES FROM ILLINOIS.SHE HAS OFEN WONDERED IF THERE ARE STILL RELATIVES IN ILLINOIS OR ANY STORIES OF THEM OUT THERE. IT IS A PART OF HER PAST THAT IS MISSING,WHICH IS MY PAST ,TOO.
