Erb Family History & Genealogy

Finally was able to prove John to be the son of Christopher and Catherina Erb of Beaver, Moon Twp, Pennsylvania. After Johns death a guardianship of his children was granted in court to several, one of which was his brother Frederick Erb,son of Christopher & Catherina Erb
Following are my notes on
John C. ( found out to be Christopher ) Erb 1900 CENSUS ON CHARLES SAID JOHN WAS BORN IN PA. CHARLES' YOUNGEST DAUGHTER VIDA BERTHA DIED FROM A RARE BLOOD DISEASE ONLY FIRST GENERATION JEWS GET. FAMILY HISTORY SAYS THE FAMILY CAME FROM THE MEDITERRAIN SEA AREA.THAT HE WAS
ADOPTED BY A GERMAN FAMILY.GIVING HIM THE NAME ERB.JUST WHO HE WAS IS IS UNKNOWN . RATHER THEY WERE REFERING TO JOHN C. OR A DESENDENT I AM NOT SURE? FAMILY HISTORY IN POSSESSION OF DONNA RAE ERB,DAUGHTER OF VIDA BERTHA ERB NOW DECEASED,STATED THAT HIS WIFE WAS TINA BENDEU
( AS CHARLES RECIEVED HIS MOTHERS NAME AS HIS MIDDLE NAME..) ON CHARLES' MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE HIS MOTHERS NAME WAS CHRISTINA HUMBERT. THIS SURNAME IS FOUND ALONG WITH THE ERB NAME IN EARLY PARTS OF BEAVER FALLS ,BEAVER,PA. THE BROTHER SAM ERB OF BEAVER FALLS ,HIS DAUGHTER
VIDA WAS BURIED IN MONOCA PA . THERE IS AN ERB CEMETERY THERE.AND OTHER ERB HISTORY.THERE IS AN ORPHANAGE IN THAT GENERAL LOCATION IN BUTLER COUNTY WHERE WE FIND A LEWIS ERB LIVING IN 1880 AGE 10 ( WHICH WOULD BE THE AGE OF OUE LEWIS.

JOHN C. WAS THE FATHER OF 18 CHILDREN ( 14 MENTIONED IN THE OBITUARY ).CHARLES,SAM AND JOHN + 15 OTHERS. DEC 1997 FOUND JOHN AND WIFE CHRISTINA ON THE 1860 AND 1870 CENSUS, MOON TWP.
BEAVER CO. PA. LISTED NINE CHILDREN 1860-70 ADDING MARY, JANE, HENRY, CAROLINE, GEORGE, WILLIAM & LEWIS.TO THE 1870 THAT WERE NOT ON THE 1860.

Finally found what happened to John and Christina , It isn't something I had ever thought I would find but I did, Just when you think you heard it all , you get the worst news. I just signed up for a years membership with Newspaper Archives.com and typed in Christopher Erb., found this
4 Oct 1871 Elvira Ohio Elvira Independent Democrat:
Mrs Christopher Erb, Living near Rochester, Pa , died quite suddenly last Sunday Week. The nieghbors suspecting she had been foully dealt with, had the body exhumed on Monday. A post Motem examination revealed the fact that she had been brutally murdered There were several stabs in her back besides bruises and cuts on her head. It was believed her husband had committed the deed. And he was about to be arrested but he evaded the law by taking a dose of deed, Strychnine, and dying soon afterward.
then this under Christina Erb in a Madison Wisc State Journal- MADISON, WIS.Newspaper, MONDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 2, 1871. NUMBER 25

Pittsburg advices State that the coroner's jury In the caae of Mrs. Christina Erb returned
a verdict that the deceased came to her death from arsenic administered by her husband, John Erb. The parties resided at Phillipsburg, were sober and industrious However, they had domestic quarrels, and during one of these Erb deposited some arsenic in her coffee-pot, and Mrs. Erb went on her way to etcrnity. The husband, fearing arrest, on Monday swallowed poison and died soon after. He was the father of 14 children.

I found a Register’s Docket for John C. Erb. Register’s Docket 2, Page 39. I also found some Orphans’ Court matters on the Erb Family. I am thinking it is the children you are talking about. Orphans’ Court Docket 11, Pages 333-335. The cost to obtain these copies would be $12.00 ($8.00 research fee and $4.00 copies) You would also have to send a self stamped addressed envelope that will hold 4-8 ½ x11 pages. The check or money order would be made payable to “Register of Wills”.

Looking for Guardinship Records and Will or Land Records of family of John C Erb born Baden Germany 1824- 1871
He lived in Rochester, Beaver , Pa at the time of his death . He and his wife both died in Sep- Oct 1871 leaving 14 orphaned children, Some guardians may be his brothers William & Frederick Erb and her sister's husband John Meany , The infant child Lewis was sent to Butler Co, Pa Orphanage.
Christina & John Owned property in Beaver Falls, Beaver , Pa on the 1860 & 1870 Census.
If your Office is able to help I would greatly appreciate it or perhaps you can direct to someone who could.

I have finally found the proof I need to prove that John Christopher Erb is the son of Christopher and Catharina. In a Register of Wills Deed , registered in the Beaver County, Pennsylvania Courthouse Office on 30 Sept 1871 It States:
Erb John C. Estate
And now to wit Sept 30, 1871 Frederick Erb comes into this office and claims to administer upon the estate of John C Erb late of Moon Tp Beaver Co. dec'd , (Brother )It having been duly made to appear to me that said John C Erb died on or about the 25th day of Sept AD 1871. I have this day granted letters of administration in due form of law to said Frederick Erb he having given bond in the penal sum of two thousand dollars with George Good and David Brobeck as suitors with conditions according to law

WITH THE ABOVE INFORMATION WE WERE ABLE TO ADD JOHN C TO CHRISTOPHER'S FAMILY, ALSO FOUND HIS DAUGHTER: A JULIAN CLEIS SPOUSE OF GEORGE IN THE 1880 CENSUS WITH SAM ERB AS A RESIDENT AGE 16. Samuel is not with George and Julie in 1900 but he showed up in a City directory in 1892 & 1893 in Monaca, Phillipsburg, Moon Twp ( Previously known as Beaver Falls )

Joseph Erb was married to Sarah ?, Joseph was a shoemaker and had a son David B. Abt 1823 also a shoemaler and a daughter Rachael, B. 13 May 1828 D. 25 May 1906. Rachael married Jacob Yost B. 27 Jan 1828 D. 10 Oct 1910 also of Lancaster Co. PA. They had 8 children, Millard John, Jerome E., Marshall A., Jacob M., Anna M., David F.,Harriet, and William S. Jacob and Rachael & family lived in PA, Ohio and Frederick Co. VA. Rachael and Jacob returned to Lancaster Co. PA in the later 1800's where they both died. They are buried Lancaster Co. ENCLOSED.." ALSO HER FATHER MENTIONS A CONESTOGA WAGAN TREK ( THE WAGON IS
NOW IN CARNEGIE MUSEUM IN PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.THE WAGON TREK COVERED A 33 DAY TRIP ONE WAY BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN LANCASTER CO AND ALLEGHENY CO.'S IN PA.CHRISTOPHER'S WIFE CATHARINE WAS HIT BY AN INDIANS ARROW ON ONE OF THESE TRIPS TO PITTSBURGH...CHRISTOPHER SPOKE BOTH FRENCH AND GERMAN.

CARNEGIE MUSUEM IN PITTSBURGH, PA.) CHRISTOPHER IS BELIEVED TO HAVE TRAVELED
BACK AND FORTH WITH THIS WAGON TREK AND FINALLY SETTLED IN BEAVER CO., PA.
ANOTHER INTERESTING PIECE OF INFORMATION IS THE FAMILY BIBLE..PASSED DOWN TO CHRISTOPHERS GRANDDAUGHTER BERTHA. SHE WAS UP IN YEARS AND HIRED A COUPLE TO CARE FOR HER, WELL THIS COUPLE KIDNAPPED HER AND HELD HER CAPTIVE FOR SOME TIME , SHE NEVER FULLY RECOVERED FROM THE TRAMA OF IT ALL, DIED SOON AFTERWARDS IN A NURSING FACILITY. THIS BIBLE WAS VELVET AND IN A MAHOGHANY BOX..VERY ELEGANT.
THE BIBLE DISAPPEARED DURING THE TIME SHE WENT THROUGH HER TRAMA, SO RATHER THE CARETAKERS SOLD IT OR JUST PLAIN LOST IT NO ONE KNOWS. SHE LIVED IN
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
1877-1967.
