They moved to TX around 1876, and died of yellow fever, on the same day, in 1888, Grayson Co., TX, apparently after being exposed to yellow fever while waiting to cross the flooded Red River with a herd of horses and cattle being transferred from the Chickasaw Nation to Texas.

The orphaned children, except for Oscar, left Grayson Co. to work on the Holmes Willis cattle ranch, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Son, Charles, worked on the this and other ranches for several years to support younger siblings.
