Tagalog name, localized to towns of Bauan and Balayan on Batangas coastline prior to arrival of Spain. Construction and trade from the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade caused initial migrations up the western Phil coastline to Cavite, outside of Manila (Galleon construction), Dagupan (Pangasinan province, trade route to/from China-Manila), and to Acapulco, Nueva Espana (present day Mexico). Simultaneous migrations to Lipa, (Batangas province) during Lipa's economic expansion from coffee exports , and to Manila. American occupation resulted in ongoing immigration to the United States and Canada. Genealogical data show Dimayuga in France is descended from Lauro Dimayuga of Lipa. DNA and genealogical records suggest Dimayuga in Mexico descend from Jose Dimayuga, born 1777 in Lipa, migrated to Acapulco, and married Ramona Piza.
All Dimayuga of Guatemala descend from Cornelio Dimayuga of Mexico (as yet undetermined if brother to, or son of Jose Dimayuga)

Name Origin

Contraction of the phrase 'Hindi mauga' which translates as unmovable or unshakeable.
Alternate explanation is 'Hindi Mayuga' translated as 'not of the Mayuga' family from towns of Lemery and Taal on shore of Lake Taal.
