Culmination of two years
work by an 80 year old Sea
beck resident will come about
5:30 this evening when friends
and relatives gather to witness
the launching of a 26 foot cabin
cruiser he built entirely wih his
own hands.
Construction of the vessel, Dawn
of Seabeck, was interrupted only
once to enable Daniel Dahl, Sea-
beck Rte. 1, box 10, to journey to
Norway to visit relatives and purc-
hase a special diesel-gasoline engine
to install in the craft.
Dahl, a retired commercial fisherman, first
came to the Seabeck area from his native
Norway in 1898 and has lived
there continuously since.
Slowly and painstakingly during
the past two years he has been working
to transform rough wood into the boat
of his dreams, and high tide at 5:30
p.m. will see Dahl, family and friends on the
beach near the Seabeck store to celebrate
completion of two years work that turned dreams
into reality as the dawn of Seabeck slides into
the waters of Hood canal.
