Marcia Louise Cooper Peterson
I have an old studio photograph of Marcia Louise COOPER which was taken at the Seigel Cooper & Co. Studio in Chicago, IL when Marcia was 5 months old sometime in the 1890’s. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Marcia and her family:
Marcia Louise COOPER was b. 14 Dec 1895 in Chicago, IL to parents Allen Goforth COOPER (1861-1915) and Mary Johanna FRICKEL (1857-1906) who were married in 1895 in Chicago, IL. Marcia appears to have been their only child. Marcia married Harry Benjamin PETERSON (1887-1975) on 17 Jun 1920 in Chicago, IL and they had two children including Doris June PETERSON (1921-2011) and John Allen PETERSON (1922-2007). Marcia died 7 Jan 1966 in Miami, FL and is buried in the Woodlawn Park North Cemetery Mausoleum in Miami.

Edward Merrell COOPER was b. 24 Mar 1881 in White Rock, KS to parents Frederick or Frederic “Fred” Steven or Stephen COOPER (1842-1928) and Frances Josephine “Josie” MERRELL (1852-1927). Edward was one of four children including Frederick Merrill; Nellie Evans; Edward Merrell; and Theodore COOPER, all born between 1870 and 1883.
Edward married Fleeta Alberta LAMB in 1913 and they had three children including Peggy Joyce, Albert Lamb; and Patricia Frances COOPER, all born between 1915 and 1922. Edward died in Jan 1973 in Denver, CO.

'Elephant Boy' Sabu Dastagir Succumbs at 39
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Sabu Datagir, the movies' elephant boy, died of a heart attack Monday in his home at nearby Chatsworth. He was 39. The Indian-born actor-whose career began when he was spotted by the late producer Sir Alexander Korda - recently completed a Warner Bros. picture and other films for Walt Disney.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood. He leaves his widow, former actress Marilyn Cooper; a son, Paul; and a daughter, Jasmine.
Sabu played in such jungle epics as "Elephant Boy," "Jungle Book," "Song of India" and "Savage Drums." He began his movie career in 1937.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, and won the Distinguished Flying Cross. Part of his service was as a glider pilot.
Sabu was born in Karapur jungle, 45 miles from Mysore City, India. He became a screen actor at the age of 12. A British film, "Drums," brought him to America on an exploitation trip in 1938.
He returned to England for "The Thief of Baghdad," but the film was finished in Hollywood because of the German blitz. Sabu remained here.
During the war he also served as a gunner in the South Pacific, where he completed 42 missions.

Jackie Cooper, born John Cooper Jr, was born in Los Angeles to John George Cooper Sr (1887 - 1956) and Mabel Leonard (Polito) Bigelow (1901 1941), a stage pianist. Jackie's father left the family when he was just 2 years old but the rest of his family was immersed in show business: His Uncle Jack was a screenwriter, his Aunt Julie was an actress married to a director, and his stepfather (Charles J. Bigelow) was a studio production manager.
With all of these show business connections on his mother's side, it isn't surprising that he became a child actor at the age of 3 (using the name "Leonard") but it may be surprising that he was so talented and well known. After playing many bit parts, he became one of the major actors in the "Our Gang" series. He was also loaned out to Paramount for the movie "Skippy" (for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor, the youngest actor ever to be nominated.)
After Hal Roach sold Jackie's contract to MGM, he appeared in many films from 1931 - 1941, such as "The Champ" "The Bowery" Treasure Island" and the title role in the Henry Aldrich films "What a Life " and "Life with Henry" to name a few.
After World War II - in which he served in the United States Navy - Jackie returned to acting, starring in 2 television shows: "The People's Choice" and "Hennesey". Unusually for a child star, he was an active and popular actor throughout his life and he was also a television director, producer, and executive.
Jackie was married 3 times: First to June Horne, from 1944 - 1949, with whom he had a son, John "Jack" Cooper, born in 1946. Next , he married "Hildy" Parks and they were married from 1950 to 1951. Last, he married Barbara Rae Kraus to whom he was married from 1954 until her death in 2009. They had three children: Russell, born 1956; Julie, (1957 - 1997) ; and Cristina Cooper, (1959 - 2009).
Although Jackie had 2 sons and 2 daughters he was only survived by his sons - his last wife, Barbara, and his 2 daughters predeceased him.
He has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star at 1507 Vine St .

While Gloria had many other relationships (including Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando) during her long life, she never married again.

Jackie Cooper, born John Cooper Jr, was born in Los Angeles to John George Cooper Sr (1887 - 1956) and Mabel Leonard (Polito) Bigelow (1901 1941), a stage pianist. Jackie's father left the family when he was just 2 years old but the rest of his family was immersed in show business: His Uncle Jack was a screenwriter, his Aunt Julie was an actress married to a director, and his stepfather (Charles J. Bigelow) was a studio production manager.
With all of these show business connections on his mother's side, it isn't surprising that he became a child actor at the age of 3 (using the name "Leonard") but it may be surprising that he was so talented and well known. Jackie was married 3 times: First to June Horne, from 1944 - 1949, with whom he had a son, John "Jack" Cooper, born in 1946. Next , he married "Hildy" Parks and they were married from 1950 to 1951. Last, he married Barbara Rae Kraus to whom he was married from 1954 until her death in 2009. They had three children: Russell, born 1956; Julie, (1957 - 1997) ; and Cristina Cooper, (1959 - 2009).
Although Jackie had 2 sons and 2 daughters he was only survived by his sons - his last wife, Barbara, and his 2 daughters predeceased him.

My mother's name was Louella Pauline Cooper. She was born 14 Jul 1910 in Geary, Oklahoma. Her father was Albert Orvil Cooper and mother was Lula Enke. Both of her parents were born in Illinois. The children as far as I can piece together were Lillith B:1896 in Ill., Lucile H B: 1900 in Ill. Haldane B:1901 in Ill., Mack Richard B: 12 Oct 1905 in Geary, OK., mADGE iNEZ B: 22 Jun 1908 in Geary, Ok., My mom, their was another daughter born after my mom but have not been able to find any information on her.
My mom told me that the 4 girls were placed in The Illinois Soldiers Orphans' Home. She said their was a baby about 2 years younger than she was that died there. I did find the 1920 census listing my mom, and her sister Madge Inez as inmates of the home. Madge went to live with a family named Haight in Oregon, Illinois. She married John Claus Snapp in 1926.
