Maggie Conley Leader
I have an old studio photograph identified as Maggie CONLEY which was taken at the J. B. Hopkins Studio in Lock Haven, PA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's with Maggie likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Margaret "Maggie" CONLEY and was able to gather the following information regarding her and her family:
Margaret “Maggie” Jane CONLEY was b. 29 May 1845 in Mifflin County, PA to parents Hugh CONLEY (1804-1870) and Jane ROBINSON (1815-1895). Maggie was one of 7 children born to this couple including Martha; James Robinson; Isabella Beggard or Biggard; Mary Caroline; Maggie; Sarah; and Nancy T. CONLEY, all born between 1836 and 1851. Maggie first married Louis or Lewis Swinehart HELLER (1840-1885) on 16 Dec 1869 in Homburg, PA and they had two children including Clyde Angelo HELLER (1870-1937) and Glenn Conley HELLER (1875-1951).
After her first husband died, she married Rev. Daniel H. LEADER (1850-1929) and they had two children, a daughter, Margaret Jane LEADER WINDOLPH (1889-1970) and a son, John Daniel LEADER (b. 1889). Maggie died 17 Jul 1923 in Lancaster Township, Lancaster Co., PA or Columbiana, OH and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lancaster, PA.

I was told by my mother that Ervin had a very work accident at a job site where they were restoring an old church. They said his fall was so far and serious that he almost broke every bone in his body. Apparently, some pieces of the marble had been broken into pieces and he kept a piece of it. He had someone bring it it to his house and made a coffee table out of it. My mother said she hated it, it weight a couple hundred pounds and could never move it. A year or two later Ervin died in a car accident. My mother said he wanted to bring it home with him and now he is going to take it with him. She had a piece of Kris Kristofferson's song, To beat the Devil, engraved on the marble and it lies the length of his grave above his body in front of his headstone. Ervin Ray Conley was my father. I was one month old when he died.

The man on the horse is my great grandfather, Zacky Baldridge. Most of the children in this photo are his neighbors and possibly some grandchildren. This was probably taken abt 1900, in Hagar Shoals, Floyd Co., KY. This is the only part of the photo I have, but I know there is another half somewhere! There were no names written on the back anywhere. I got this copy from my grandfather's half-sister by Zacky's 2nd wife, Loucretia (RICE) Music Baldridge. If you recognize any of the children, I would very much appreciate hearing from you! Most all my Baldridge families are from Floyd County, KY, where this photo was taken. Thanks!

MY GRANDMOTHER, ELLEN CONLEY KING'S PARENTS WERE, JOHN WILLIAM CONLEY AND LOUISA(WALDROP)CONLEY. JOHN AND LUCY MARRIED IN MEIGS CO TN SEPT.29,1866. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO HIS PARENTS WERE AND HERS.
