Jason Anthony Colacino was the son of Diane Joyce Oliveira (born 1957) and Rick Colacino. He was born in San Leandro, California on August 20, 1977.
He was a talented and respected professional who started his dance career in country line dancing when he was a teenager. He went on to master Swing, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Jazz, Ballet and Ballroom dancing. He is best known in his early career for his dynamic West Coast Swing competition performances with Gina Amato-Brown and longtime partner Katie Boyle. Jason earned a US Open Swing title and three World Cabaret titles.His success brought a huge demand for his skills, which allowed him to teach, choreograph, compete, perform and judge all over the world. Jason embraced life in New York City and had become a true New Yorker.
Jason Colacino, 31, passed away unexpectedly at home in New York City on August 9, 2009. As said in the Jason A Colacino: Obituary, "His loss will also be mourned by his dance community family of Swing and Tango, who considered him to be one of the most gifted dancers ever to grace the hardwood."
