Esther Caton is the daughter of Wallace and Cora Caton. She was born on September 16, 1909 in Beaufort County, North Carolina and had an older sister Thelma Caton as well as younger sisters Hilda Caton and Hazel Caton. Growing up, Esther lived in Richland, Beaufort, North Carolina with her parents and sisters.
She graduated from Aurora High School as Salutatorian in 1927 and 67 years later, she organized their class reunion and had their annual reprinted for each of the six who were living. After high school she attended ECTC, now called East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.
She married Charles E. Hickman on June 15, 1929 at the age of 20 in Pamlico, North Carolina. The couple had children Wallace Hickman, Charles E. Hickman Jr. and Esther Lee Hickman and were married for 52 years.
Esther taught Sunday school for 60 years at First Baptist Church in Chocowinity, NC and was also a mother and a housewife.
Esther Hickman passed away on May 31, 2005 in Bladenboro, North Carolina and is buried in the Pamlico Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Washington, Beaufort County, North Carolina, United States of America. See Esther C Hickman Gravesite.

The farm was listed in Will county, in Plainfield, near Joliet. I think his name was James or John, but not sure. He also had a home in Chicago where he died. His son, by the same name, born in Chicago, ended up on the Will County farm.
I wasn't able to find anything else on this family, and hoped someone out there knew who they were, where they were from, and what happened to them. The are still 3 CATONs listed in the area phone book, but I didn't have the nerve to call.
