This is a picture my grandfather Otto Buttlar had. I know the person in the
picture is a direct relative. Perhaps my great great grandfather?

Brandenfels is a castle in Germany. It was owned by the Von Buttlar family. When my
grandfathers' dad came to America they dropped the Von. Otto Buttlar's father's
name was Rudolph Buttlar. Since the Buttlar family owned the castle
"Brandenfels" in the city of Markershausen Germany they added Brandenfels to
their last name. I am related to all Von Buttlar Brandenfels.
