Noblesville Boy Doing Acrobatic Stunts On An Airplane
The Noblesville Ledger (Noblesville, Indiana) Tuesday, July 05, 1921:
"Mr. and Mrs. Claude Burgess of this city have received word from the former's brother, Earl Burgess, who is now in Tennessee with an airplane. The young man sent a paper which containing the following: On Wednesday, July 6th, the Irwin flyers will do a number of stunts for the benefit of the public. Earl Burgess a famous aerial acrobat will perform many astonishing and hair raising stunts. He will hang to a rope suspended from an airplane by his teeth with the plane going at eighty miles an hour. This is only one of the many things which this young flyer will do." The newspaper also carried a picture of Burgess and Irwin with their airplane. Both young men are well known here. this city being the home of Burgess."

Charles Burgess
Charles Earl Burgess lost both parents at a young age and stayed with his older brother and his family until he reached maturity. He was drafted into WWI and served as an aviator for the Army from 1917-1919. When he returned he worked as a stunt flyer or "wing-walker" primarily in TN and MS. I believe this photo was taken in Nova Scotia and even though the back of the photo says Card Family Reunion, there may be many of the Burgess clan there as well. I have no idea who any of these people are, except I know at least some of them are my Card ancestors. I'm hoping someone can ID some of these people. Thanks so much

Sanford Franklin Burgess, Tennessee
A photo, I believe, of Sanford Franklin Burgess from Stewart County, Tennessee. In 2009 an archive of over 1100 glass plate photographic negatives taken by Sam A. Feltner, a resident of Bumpus Mills, Stewart County, Tennessee came to light. He photographed local individuals, couples, families, etc., mostly during the 1910 - 1925 time period. It appears most of his work was in Districts 3, 4 & 5 of Stewart County. ( Big Rock, Tobacco Port, & Indian Mound) Over 1800 images are in the archive. We hope that as more & more people view the photos, more identifications will follow.

Looking for anyone related to Lougenia Ida Burgess. She was my 2x great grandmother, born in KY. She married William M. O'Daniel. Will be posting a photo of Lougenia when she was older. Looking for anyone with other photos, especially when she was younger.
