Pte J Blower landed in France/Flanders on 21/12/1914 with the 2nd Battalion K.S.L.I.
He won the Military Medal with the 1st Bn on the night of 21st-22nd April 1916 when the K.S.L.I. recaptured trenches near Morteldje Estaminet, Ypres., when James took three prisoners single handed.
Records show that James was killed in action with the 7th Bn K.S.L.I. on 18th September 1916
The 7th Bn was attached to the 1st Bn.
James has no known grave but is remembered with honour on the Thiepval Memorial.
James left a widow Sarah A Blower.
