This is my story. i was born and raised in las vegas nevada, i have to half brothers and i am currently married to my wonderful wife jennifer. i joined the army in january of 2002, i was not influenced by 9/11 but had decided that the military was the only way out of the bright lights of las vegas. i went to basic training in fort leanard wood missouri. after 14 weeks of vigorous traing in basic soldiering skills and also in mobility, counter mobilty and survivabilty,which is the deffinition of a combat engineer, i was a bonified united states army soldier and motivated. i then hopped a bus to Fort Benning, Georgia where i attended airborne school. last stop was fort bragg,north carolina where i was asigned to the 307th engineer battallion, bco 3rd platoon 1 squad. 6 months latter i was basking in the sun of kuwait airforce base. shortly after that i took a crowded ride into the beggining of the war against terrorism. i saw many things during my 1 year deployment, good and bad. 9 months later i was right back in iraq, but this time i knew what was ahead of me, blood, guts, and the accasional mortar strike. well they say the third time is the charm so i rolled the dice and volunteerd to go to afghanistan. well i guess god has a plan because im still here. i eventualy was discharged from the 82nd due to injuries i sustained durring my first deployment. you never know how trully blessed you are until you are among people who dont relize what you went through. fortunatly i made it in combat and i have all my fingers and toes but the scars are still there. bad dreams and long nights are worse then any deployment i have been on, but thank god for modern science because i take my pills and i toe the line and try to move on with my life. i will never forget the men i served with,my brothers in arms, or why i voluteered for this mess it was to protect the ones i love the ones i would gladly sacrifice my self for, for the future of not only america but for the future of mankind. oddly some of the best times of my life where spent fearing for it. god bless all those who have served and those who will serve, and bless the men and woman who have lost there lives, military and innocent.
