Edwin was a New Yorker and he wanted to travel. He went to Weslyan, NYU and Columbia universities from 1930 to 1942 and was a contributing professor, and was a high school teacher in White Plains, N.Y. 1934-42. Edwin became a news reporter for the Herald Tribune in New York from 1930 to 31 and became a Foreign Service Officer in 1945. His first post was as a clearance officer for the UN in Shanghái China. He was married to Gloria Carol Crain of Cook County on June 15, 1947 in Shanghái China. He loved working all over the world and the many travels he shared with Gloria. He had 3 daughters, Andrea (Holton Arms, Bethesda, Md.) born 1957 in Highland Park, Illinois, and Pandora Michelle born in Frankfurt Germany and Nicola Maria born in Hong Kong, China. Edwin was a great sportsman and was the captain of his ice hockey team in New York. He loved tennis and when he was a young man he was in the news with a photograph of his beloved German Shepherd 'Duke' jumping over a tennis fence. Edwin, known as 'Rusty' to his wife and Friends, was a very kind man who loved all animals and especially dogs who he had a knack for intricately training. He was extremely well read and an avid anglofile with a dry sense of humor who loved nothing more than the art of having elaborate intellectual debates. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He gave 25 years of service to the United States Department of State. After being posted all over the world he retired to Marbella, Spain he lived with Gloria and the youngest of his three daughters, Andrea. Edwin has 4 surviving grandchildren, Sophie,Olivia, Maxine and Alex. They adore hearing about the amazing career choices and travels of their grandfather.
