My grandmother married Col. Coleman Tate, and bore my mother, in 1924, Helen Clevlen Tate. He had two sons, by a previous wife and left my grandmother, with his daughter, in 1928, I've to the best of my recollection. I traced down a Tate family, living in Memphis, TN, around 1972, that turned out to be one of my mother's half brothers, but never had any further contact with him. My mother has now passed away and I am longing for a connection to by maternal grandfather and all decendents. I want to know about him and what kind of person he was. The only thing that my mother told me, was that he was a river boat pilot, on the Mississippi river. How did he get the title of Colonel? What was he like? How did he live? How did he die? Was he a religious man? Was he a womanizer? Was he a strong man? What is his story? Who are my relatives?
