Actor, Comedian. He was best known for playing the character roles of waiters, spectators, impostors, miners, elevator operators, and bums. He will be best remembered for playing the role of 'Barker' in the classic action-adventure romantic western film, "Bend Of The River" (1952). The film which was directed by Anthony Mann, which was written for the screen by Borden Chase, which was based on the novel, "Bend Of The Snake," by William Gulick, and which also starred James Stewart, Rock Hudson, and Arthur Kennedy, tells the story of hen a town boss confiscates homesteader's supplies after gold is discovered nearby, a tough cowboy risks his life to try and get it to them. He is also best remembered for playing the role of 'Blinkie' in the episode entitled, "Superman's Wife," of the classic action-adventure television series, "Adventures Of Superman," which originally aired on March 31, 1958, and which also starred George Reeves, Jack Larson, and Noel Neill, tells the story of a beautiful policewoman who is asked to pose as Superman's wife in order to help him break up a gang of bank robbers. His last role was playing 'Bum #1' in the episode entitled, "Don't Feed The Pigeons," of the action crime television series drama, Policewoman," which originally aired on December 2, 1975, and which also starred Angie Dickinson, Earl Holliman, and Charles Dierkop, tells the story of Sergeant Suzanne 'Pepper' Anderson who must infiltrate a trio of ruthless con artists who are duping old ladies out of their money. He retired from acting shortly thereafter. During his acting career, he also used the name, Harry Arne. He passed away in Burbank, California, on July 30, 1984, just a few days away from what would have been his 77th birthday. His funeral services were held through Pierce Brothers Valhalla Funeral Directors and he was buried in Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood, California. He was married in Los Angeles, California, to Rita Fleming Arnie (1908-1971), on June 21, 1954. He was the father of Robert H. Arnie (1960-2010), and he had two grandchildren, Patrick and Suzanne.
