His trousers look anything from late 20's to mid 30's; Englishmen's style didn't change much. Her hat says 1935-37. But of course, it was getting towards wartime and maybe the hat was old.

He married Harriet Grace (Gradie) Shoesmith, and had children Francis Frank Shoesmith, Patricia Shoesmith, and Roger Walter Robert Shoesmith. Walter Shoesmith died at age 30 years old on January 26, 1944, and was buried Lost at sea Portsmouth Naval Memorial Panel 83 in United Kingdom.
