Unknown Policeman, Los Angeles
This photo was rescued from an antique shop in Seaside, Oregon on January 24, 2015. No name on the back, but some good information: Age 21, Year: 1925 (so subject born ca. 1904). Address is 1814 Toberman Street in Los Angeles. I should be able to track down census or city directories to hopefully get a name.
Date & Place: in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California United States

I think officers should wear the awards they've been given. Just like veterans.

No age is probably right. Back then people always looked alot older. A cross between the hard times and the clothing.

In the UK we say, if a Policeman looks young, you're getting old !! Me at 21 at Trooping of the Colour.

There's no policeman living at 1814 Toberman on the 1930 census. Police records might be more helpful.

Really neat, I'd want to check to see if the homes still look the same on Doberman.

There doesn't seem to be a Doberman Street in LA, now. There IS a Toberman Street with houses of about this vintage. 1814 would be approximately under the freeway, now, however.

1818/1816 Tobermon was a funeral home/church. "Bramble Funeral Church, 1816 South Toberman Street" circa 1940s.

From Raymond Chandler's "The High Window":

"Toberman Street. A wide dusty street, off Pico. No. 1854B was an upstairs flat, south, in a yellow and white frame building. The entrance door was on the porch, beside another marked 1352B. The entrances to the downstairs flats were at right angles, facing each other across the width of the porch."

if you can read the Badge #, from his hat or chest Badge, you than can get his name from LAPD

I just enlarged the picture, but I could not read the name on the badge, but still you could ask the LAPD if you could see their archives? Or perhaps the city archives ?
