I have Always Said that I Love The People who are in the past. And I Still love to see and Sometimes I Learned from It Also. Beautiful Things to be able to see. Of the Past.
And then one person has to go down this road. We get it. It happened. It was bad. This picture has nothing to do with that. This is like pictures of Black people in a good situation or a good pic and someone has to go omg but slavery etc. This is the issue the baiting when the issue isnt even being brought up at the time.
It was popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s to document the Native Americans. There were a number of these photographers whose work is stored today in the Library of Congress.
This has got to be my favorite picture so far! The Lakota Sioux has always been (aside from my Cherokee ancestors) my favorite tribe. They have such a rich and beautiful culture. I love that they still keep their native language alive as well! :)
Love it. I have "The North American" by Edward Curtis who spent a good share of his life photographing and recording the old way of life. Fantastic book.

How would one go about looking for a particular picture that has stood out in my head for over 12 years. I saw this photo at the Portland OR Museum , in 03. It was the Pacific Northwest exibit.The photo is that of a older Native American sitting on a crevice looking out on to Crater Lake. I so loved this photo. It's b/w probably late 1800 or early 1900. It's so mesmerizing the way he's looking out. Thanks for any help .
