Sgt Co L 38 Vol Inf - Lost in River Marne somewhere in France
"Mrs, Annie Bohannon, of Rockfield, received a letter last week from the Red Cross stating that the body of her son, Harry Bohannon had been found. Sergeant Bohannon was reported missing July 7, 1918, and for many months the relatives hoped that he would be found alive. Letters came from time to time stating he had been drowned while crossing the river in an attack on the Germans at the battle of the Marne. Sergeant Bohannon is the only one from Rockfield who was called to make the supreme sacrifice and the sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family." —Delphi Carroll County Citizen Times, Saturday, Jan. 18, 1919
