Seattle Policemen 1918 Influenza Epidemic
Photo of Seattle policemen wearing masks provided by the Red Cross to protect them from influenza. Seattle politicians feared that there would be mass hysteria due to the disease and so urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid congested areas.

These Seattle policemen were constantly patrolling the streets during the epidemic.

These policemen in 1918 Seattle are wearing masks given to them by the Red Cross. But do they have gloves? Shelter in place was in effect - but not to stop the spread of the disease. By the end of the pandemic, an estimated 50 - 100 million worldwide had died.

Exactly what the media is hoping for. - they keep trying to create it with their scare tactcs and ouright misinformation.

Not the same virus. But the numbers are very high for modern times - we won't know the final results until it's over. From 1918 - 1919 (yes, the virus then circled the globe more than once), we know the final results. Please take care of yourselves.

My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
